Detailed Itinerary

You will be met by our airport representative and transferred to the hotel by our private tourist vehicle. You have the free evening and overnight at the hotel.

You will travel on local transport from Kathmandu to Besisahar. The duration of travel will be about seven hours. The drive to Besisahar will provide you an experience of the beautiful Nepali countryside. Besisahar is the headquarter of Lamjung district. After arriving at Besisahar, we will take a private vehicle to reach Syange. We will stay at Syange overnight and make preparations for the upcoming Annapurna Circuit Trek.

We will have our breakfast and begin the trek to Dharapani. Dharapani means tap water in Nepali. After a short trek from Syange, we will cross the Marsyangdi river via a high suspension bridge.

The trail starts to get rougher from here. We will reach a place called Tal in about 2-3 hours of Trek from Syange. Tal means lake in Nepali but there are no lakes in Tal. We will have our lunch here and get a short rest. We will trek to Dharapani after Lunch.

The trail gets more difficult and the air becomes cooler on our way to Chame. The vegetation also starts to change. We will reach a village called Bagarchap after an hour of the trek from Dharapani. The next village we meet is called Danakyu. There are two trails to go to Chame, one from the northern side and another from the southern side.

The northern trail has avalanche risk so we will proceed through the southern side.  We will stop for our lunch at Tamang village, which provides an excellent view of the mountains in the Manaslu range. We will finally reach Chame after about 5 hours of walk from Dharapani. There is a natural hot water spring nearby Chame.

From Chama, we will cross a bridge over the Marshyanghi and hike until reaching Teleku then pass the apple orchards to the village of Bhratang. Here the landscape unfolds dramatically as the peaks become more prominent. The trail continues steeply and after crossing two more suspension bridges before we enter the village of Pisang.

The trail climbs along a ridge providing beautiful views of Manang valley and Tilicho peak, before descending into the valley and on to Hongde via Manang’s airstrip. We cross a bridge into the village of Mungji and continue on to Bryaga until reaching our final destination Manang. Views of the Annapurna range today are abundant.

As we gain elevation it is important to rest and recover, this allows our bodies to get used to the environment and thinner air. Today can be spent exploring the area, hiking short distances and relaxing. The crossing of Thorong La is still to come.

Leaving Manang is a bit of a watershed as you now feel like you are really ascending into the high altitude mountain hinterland as you make your way towards the Thorung La pass. On your way out of Manang, you will climb steadily all the way to Yak Kharka with fine views all of the way.

Leaving Yak Kharka you will climb gradually along mountain trails running along the headwaters of the Marsyangdi crossing it at one point over an old wooden bridge. You then follow a narrow mountain path that leads you up to your overnight stay at Thorong Phedi.

The climax of the Annapurna Circuit starts with an early morning start on the steep yet well-defined trail that grants us passage. We reach prayer flags after approximately 4 hours of steady climbing and are greeted with an outstanding view of the Himalayan region. As we descend the moraine gives way to grassy slopes and the trek to Muktinath is pleasant.

Heading towards Jomsom a large town that stretches along the river banks, the descent is easy and scenery dramatic. Spectacular views emerge of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri as we continue down the Kali Gandaki valley through the Tibetan influenced villages of Jharkot and Khingar.

In the early morning, we will catch a flight back to Pokhara. The flight will provide you stunning sight of the silver mountains. You will bid farewell to your guides and porters, who will part way from here. You can visit Pokhara in the second part of the day – exploring the Phewa lake and the nearby caves.

We will today drive to Kathmandu. On the way, from the left side of the vehicle, we will get to see the enjoyable sight of the river gorges, mountains, rustic settlements, and terraces. Then you will be transferred to the hotel where you can just relax.

You will be transferred to the international airport for your final departure by our airport representative. It’s our great pleasure to organize your tour and thanks for joining the team of Mountain Treks Nepal Pvt. Ltd.
