Overview

Manaslu Circuit Trek is regarded as the best all-around trek in Nepal and it’s on the Great Himalayan Trail. Its other name is green tea- house trek. While on the trip to Manaslu we get to marvel at the magnificent views of snowy Mt. Manaslu (8163m), the eighth tallest peak in the world which is in the very center of the Nepalese Himalaya ranges. The low-to-high range of altitudes presents you with the varied flora and fauna of this region. The total distance of the Round Manaslu trek is 177 km.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a popular trek in Nepal that takes you around the Manaslu mountain, the eighth-highest mountain in the world. The trek starts in the town of Arughat, which is about a 7-hour drive from Kathmandu, and follows a route through the Manaslu Conservation Area, passing through forests, meadows, and high mountain passes. The highlight of the trek is the visit to the Larkya La pass, which is located at an altitude of 5106 meters and offers stunning views of the Manaslu mountain and the surrounding Himalayas.

The walk takes around two weeks, but many tourists prefer to stay longer to allow for additional exploration and acclimatization. The best time to do the Manaslu Circuit Trek is from September to November and from March to May when the weather is generally clear and dry. It is possible to do the trek at other times of the year, but the weather can be more unpredictable, and some trails may be inaccessible due to snow.

Challenging trek

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a challenging trek that offers a unique combination of natural beauty, cultural immersion, and high-altitude adventure. Along the way, trekkers can enjoy the local culture and hospitality of the Gurung people, who are the indigenous residents of the region. The trek is also an excellent opportunity to see a variety of flora and fauna, including rhododendron forests and rare species of birds and animals.

Tips for Round Manaslu Trek

The trekker needs to note that the trekking at altitudes above 3000m/10,000ft is more demanding on the body than walking at lower elevations. One needs to have good cardiovascular fitness to go on this trek. We will start our trek with the drive to Arughat from Kathmandu and follow the Budhi Gandaki River northwards to reach the village of Deng.

The trail now takes you high above the river giving us views of the Manaslu Massif. However, much of this trek involves walking on mountain trails. The Annapurna’s Thorung La (Pass) is not the same degree of challenge as Manaslu’s Larkya La. It is in the almost permanent shadow of Manaslu’s north face and that results in more severe snow conditions. There are a few places where unbelievably beautiful and awesome scenery can be sightseeing.

Additionally, the best time for Manaslu Circuit Trek are March to May in spring season and September to mid-December during the autumn season. It is not suggested to go trek in monsoon season.

    Outstanding experience

We had an amazing experience with Mountain Treks Nepal. Our guide knew so much about the local environment and, together with the porters, made us feel comfortable at all times. They were so friendly and serving. When things didn’t go as expected or something went wrong, they did everything to find a good solution. The tea houses they picked for us were all beautiful and the food was delicious. We would definitely recommend doing a trekking in Nepal with Mountain Treks Nepal!
Thank you Mr Bharat and Yaka for your all support in Nepal for us.
